Since the Instructors of Cheshunt Karate Club were first asked to teach Karate sessions for the Sainsbury’s Active Kids Scheme in 2006 they have taught in various schools in around Hertfordshire. They have progressed to other youth organizations wanting to find out more about the martial art. The sessions normally last for an hour and include some basic techniques, bag work, self-defence techniques and a short work-out tailored to those present. The classes range in numbers from 10 to 30 with an age range from 7 onwards. The instructors emphasise that Karate starts and ends with respect. It is through the medium of hard training that we can find out about ourselves and develop our character.
Below is our Dojo Kun (Training Hall Rules). They are excellent rules for the youths of today to follow!
- Strive to perfect character
- Defend the paths of truth
- Foster the spirit of effort
- Honour the rules of etiquette
